BACK TO SCHOOL!!! (Already?) One of my main goals on day one is to build relationships with the children and leave them go home on the first day feeling happy and safe in their new classroom environment. The idea behind this resource is that each child write a nice comment on their peers’ jigsaw pieces, so that by the end of the lesson, each child has a nice comment from everyone in the class. I then plan to cut the jigsaw pieces out and display them in the classroom for the year, for children to refer to anytime they wish. It also gives you an opportunity to set expectations for a more “busy” lesson, i.e. silent when walking around the room/no running/no pushing etc. Included is: The activity sheet A short powerpoint explaining how to engage in this activity! Please leave a review and let me know how you got on

Class Assembly: Myths and Legends

I used this as a class assembly this week and have made the necessary changes to the script that I made throughout rehearsals. This script shows what we learned as a class through story-telling and acting out the myth of Icarus and Daedalus and the legend of the Loch Ness monster. (Scottish Accents included). It is done in the form of Myths and Legends X Factor with judges and a presenter. Both parents and children adored it.

Reading Support at Home for parents

I created this document to hand out to my parents at the beginning of the school year. It’s a short snippet of activities that parents could engage with with their children. There are 7 pages, including: *Some sample questions to ask children while reading. *Rate out of 10. To allow children to form opinions on what they’ve read. *Re-tell the story. To allow children to order parts of the story. *Change the ending. This allows children to take their understanding to another level. *Strategies for parents when reading with their children. See my preview for a clearer idea of this resource.
Golden Time- Behaviour Chart

Golden Time- Behaviour Chart

This is a rewards and sanction chart in which I made with my class. It is coloured green, orange and red to indicate a child's behaviour. Each child will design their own peg at the beginning of the school year and attach it to the green section, which reads, 'I have earned all of my Golden Time'. If a child misbehaves, or doesn't follow the rules, they will then go and move their own peg to the orange section, which is labelled 'warning. If a child further disobeys the rules, they then must move their peg to the red section accordingly (i.e. 5 minutes lost, then 10 etc). The picture attached is the chart in my classroom at the moment (to show as an example), however I have upgraded and improved it to attach on TES. Cinderella Class Assembly- KS2

My class assembly that I did today as we have been studying fairy tales for the last 2 weeks. Cinderella can seem a bit babyish for Year 4 students, however we made it a funny version and the audience were in tears laughing. This script is funny, modern and is easily adaptable. I made one of the stepsisters a boy (wears the wig etc) and the audience loved it. My prince was also a girl and she as fantastic, put on the deep voice and all. Included is: The script (which is easy to follow and has stage directions included) The layout in which I sat the children The downloads of the music I used An invitation to give to the parents. Both the children and the parents adored the assembly. A personal highlight of mine is that the children sing working 9-5 by Dolly Parton- amazing.

Editable Classroom Jobs

A fun filled ‘back to school’ activity centered around children applying for classroom jobs! Children will be shown (by powerpoint) what each job entails and what type of characteristics they need to have for each job. The aim here is to get to know children’s personalities: Who is a leader: who is shy: who is outspoken: who is a decent writer etc. Plus it beats a ‘my summer holiday recount’ right? Also another way to reinforce classroom expectations at the beginning of the year, i.e. what each child is expected to do as a responsibility to their classroom. Included is: 14 page PPT outlining each job and explaining the activity Job application form with scaffolding and images Class Jobs posters (as seen in the cover image) Please do leave a review to let me know how you got on

KS2 Year 6 SATS Reading comprehension: SAMPLE

(0)
I wrote a short piece about a Middle Eastern boy joining a British School and decided to make it into a Year 6 SATS sample paper. The questions are structured exactly like the SATS exams and children can use them as revision in the weeks/months coming up to the SATS exams. I have uploaded it as a PDF and also a word document. Also, I’ve separated the reading material and the questions in two different documents if required. Can be used with year 5s also to get them into the SATS style of questioning. Let me know your thoughts on this resource.

Can you feel the excitement brewing for the FIFA World Cup 2018?!? My class cannot stop talking about the World Cup lately. This has driven me to make lots of resources based on the event. In this bundle I’ve included all of the resources I’ve made so far on the World Cup. Included: *A maths activity for children to calculate the distances between the World Cup stadiums and convert the units. *A maths game involving children representing a country and answering a maths question to score a ‘goal’. Then competing against other countries to win the final. *Mathematical word problems (and answers) involving the Russian Currency. *2 activities were children engage with designing their own fantasy World cup jersey and team. *A maths activity involving children identifying the co-ordinates in which Ronaldo passes to his team mates. Each activity has already sold numerous times on TES and TpT, so by bundling them together I hope it to be of some benefit. I really hope you enjoy these resources as much as my class and I did. Please leave a review and let me know how you and your class like them.

Bonfire Night: Powerpoint and Activity

Bonfire Night explained through a colourful, visual powerpoint. I have used a wide range of pictures to teach children about Bonfire Night. As I have a huge portion of EAL learners in my class, I have included simple, clear pictures that make the content easy to understand. The story is told in an interesting way, through use of speech bubbles and cartoon pictures. Easily adaptable for a younger class also. As an activity, I asked children to create a comic strip based on what they learned about Bonfire Night. For EAL or low ability learners, I have included differentiated resources and images to assist them. This resource includes: *A colourful, interactive powerpoint. *Differentiated acitivities Please leave a review on your thoughts. Thanks

Got a class full of worriers? Have a few children that have a bunch of questions that need answering? This is the resource for you! At the beginning of a brand new school year, children can be timid, unsure and un confident with a new teacher/classroom. By using these cards you can create a whole class discussion in which all potential worries can be discussed in a safe environment, where children feel secure. It’s a very simple activity to make children feel more at home in their new classroom and with their new teacher.
